But it hasn't always been that way...

Growing up, I used to overhear my parents talking about what they couldn’t do or have because of bad credit. I didn’t know what credit was, but I knew that it was ruining our lives! I saw limitation. I saw stress. I saw doors closing. Even as a child, I remember thinking, whatever this thing is, I will NEVER have bad credit.

That stayed with me...

I spent years working in Silicon Valley as an IT Analyst, and what I really learned there wasn’t just technology. It was troubleshooting. Learning how to look at a problem, identify the gaps, and figure out how to fix what was broken. That mindset became the foundation for how I approached every aspect of my life. When I see a problem, my instinct is always the same. How do we fix this!

At 23, I bought my first home, and that’s when I fell in love with real estate. I immediately saw the power of ownership and leverage. So I eventually got licensed and when I entered the industry , I did very well early on. I became a top producer, working primarily with first-time homebuyers, helping them understand what was possible and guiding them through the process of buying a home.

I started earning six figures early in my twenties. That was exhilarating. But here’s the truth. I didn’t yet have the financial IQ to understand how to save it or invest it properly. The more money I made, the more money I spent. I had more month than money. Income without strategy will always do that.

And then, life happened....

Even while earning close to a quarter of a million dollars a year, I overextended myself. I ended up filing bankruptcy with a 379 credit score. That was a devastating obstacle to face, but it was also a lesson. I didn’t just want to rebuild my credit. I wanted to understand the mechanics of credit. How it actually works. The tips and tricks. What moves increase your score, what hurts it, and what you can do to raise it quickly and strategically.

I approached credit the same way I approached troubleshooting in tech. I studied it. I broke it down. I tested it. I rebuilt intentionally. Within a year, I took my credit score from 379 to nearly 700, became a certified credit expert, and started helping others do the same. My hardship became a blueprint. A blueprint I now use to help people avoid the mistakes I made so they don’t have to go through what I went through.

The year after filing bankruptcy, I opened Catalyst Real Estate Professionals. Catalyst went on to become the largest Independent Black-owned real estate firm in California because we did real estate differently. We were not about sales. We were about service. We were transformational, not transactional.

What that meant was simple. Instead of trying to sell as many houses as possible, we helped families understand how to use real estate to build generational wealth. We focused on education, strategy, and long-term outcomes. Because of that approach, we changed more lives. We built trust. We lived on referrals. We helped multiple generations within the same families.

And as you grow and evolve, life changes.

In 2022, I went through a devastating divorce and moved to the East Coast. That season forced me to pause and ask myself a hard question. What do I want this next chapter of my life to be about?

The answer was clear. Closing the wealth gap. I had said it out loud before, even on the TEDx stage in “Google That Shit,” but at this point, it wasn’t just something I talked about. It was something I was committed to.

I believe Black women are central to that solution. Black women are the most educated demographic in this country, yet we continue to lag behind when it comes to wealth and asset ownership. We want more. We want financial freedom. We want wealth. We want to leave something for our families and change our communities.

There’s an African proverb that says "When you teach a man, you teach an individual, but when you teach a woman, you teach a nation." That belief is why I created the Net 7 Collective and Net 7 Nation. These communities are designed to support Black women through education, strategy, and community as they build wealth intentionally.
